(I enclosed the P.M. letter with the one below.)
Dear Prince Charles,
I thought you may be interested in reading a copy, respectfully, of a letter that I have wrote to air my views, and at least clear my own inner environment, as well as giving rest to the much preached to ears of my loved ones and friends.
Although initially, my thoughts were to just send the enclosed accompanying letter to the Prime Minister in the hope of having it passed on to his ministers for transport, Sport, Culture, and Trade and Commerce. (The PM's sec. Mr. Dowding was directed by Mr.Blair to pass my letter onto just the transport minister! One out of four could be called a start!) Subsequently, I now felt that it should be eventually intended for the whole House of British Parliament, given enough time to find the appropriate addresses!
Then realizing the most important aspect and the clearest reason for such a letter, would be to share my views with every open-minded person living in the United Kingdom, and why not with any interested persons elsewhere? Here I can only thank Goodness that I live at a time where computers and the web give each right minded individual a much needed rite, and chance to show the World if necessary, but more importantly on this occasion, is the need for our Nation, as Individuals, to show their own Country, their News, Opinions and Lifestyles; to proudly show their worth. To offset, upset and break out from the psychological, physical and spiritual restraints of an exclusively selective and harmfully biased media held monopoly, by Everyone now being able to have their own ‘television’ channel, newspaper, radio station or billboard, if so desired! An advertisement and display of recognition for each inclined Being! Self-promotion for each person’s life, and the people, animals, places, interests and things therein contained. The old adage, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, rings true here, as no one can know the view point of each Individual’s existence better than they themselves; and every person would want to make a good job as they would be judged, like any proud medium should be, to their own account.
So when the only too well known media establishments start to lose their viewing and circulation figures to computers and their digital video cameras, which people will be taking with them to THEIR fields of interest, and at the same time spreading the news that there are now fledgling alternatives to the dull and shiny boot-faced television stations; i.e. Young, fresh media that are computer website ‘stations,’ with infinite channels and programmes, set apart from the limited, mind-numbing, for decades self-advertised! prejudiced, terrestrial t.v. dross; Peoples’ Web ‘papers’ replacing the followers, unimaginative flocks of old and weak minded ‘paper-news’ institutions, - that follow each others work for fear of popular unpopularity at the cost of originality - deforested as they lose out to our own Nation’s vast and varying Word documented writings of News, Events, Culture, Sports etcetera. These organizations will start to look at how and why this situation has arose, when everyone is tuned into their P.Cs’ rather than tuning into their t.v’s, or rustling through their daily pulp! Only then would these establishments find their motivation to pull themselves out of their own dried up mud, through danger to their own bigoted business; once their hold of power grows flat, they are sure to start to follow the interests of a wider and much more varied Nation, than the one they, and unfortunately we all ready know!
If it is possible for anyone to say, could they please tell me how four terrestrial television channels, that all generally fall into line with the same monotonous old hat and the next trash trend programmes, running along side a host of so called newspapers of the same ilk and mindset, hope to represent, and try to relate to the unique lives of tens of millions of free thinking people that live aboard our Isles?
A journalist ‘friend’ of mine quoted as saying, amidst argument that, “the media is just a reflection of society,” well there may have been a time when that would have been a handsome remark, but today, in my opinion, and to an extremely large extent, it is the other way round! Society is a reflection of the media!
This isn’t about having the same amount of money as the next person! It is about having the same amount of fame, recognition or feeling of self worth; call it what you will; a self esteem that brings the best out of oneself, if chosen to! Like Andy Warhol once famously said, “Everyone! will be famous for fifteen minutes,” I believe he will be proven right, even beyond his certain imagination and expectations, and when this does become the case, with or without corporate bias or exception, it should be a very positive development for the good of society, where handled and used correctly, that is why I think it is very important that it is not left solely to the media of today!
Thank you kindly for your precious time,
